Cedar is an "American Labrador," or commonly known as a field lab. She came all the way from Milwaukee Wisconsin, to Santa Barbara in June of 2005. I had never conducted research in order to find a dog before, but after learning so much from my Goleta Valley Dog Club friends, I had to do the best I could to reduce the chances of problems down the road with bone structure and other health issues that labradors are known for. I also wanted a field lab since they tend to be leggier, lighter build and have high drive. So with the help of the Lab expert friends, we found her litter on working-retriver.com. I learned a lot about her familie's health history on the Orthropedic Foundation for Animals website; a huge database of health test results from every breed.
In December of 2006, she started competing in agility and is taking to it like she was born for it! She loves to work, learn and play. Did I say she's fast? She's giving Barbara a real run for her money! Time to get on top of those back crosses! See her Agility Page. Cedar is very sweet natured and a joy to live with, except when arriving at the beach when she just about comes unglued with excitement! She recently acquired a baby sister, Clover, who is the best present mom every brought home!
As of December, 2007 Cedar has earned 5 Novice agility titles!
